Desalination is an effective and rather recent water treatment solution. Reverse osmosis technology used in desalination features a low energy consumption, wide application range, short construction period, and no geographical restrictions. With the deterioration of water resources and increasing problems with water pollution, water conservation and cross-basin water transfer cannot fundamentally solve water shortage crises in coastal cities, and we have begun to seek water from other resources such as the ocean. Reverse osmosis technology has been used to turn seawater into useful resources, providing coastal cities with sustainable water solutions.
